ABOUT

Ted Johnson established the practice in 2003 in Southport as the Law Offices of Edward A. Johnson II.  In 2004, Kimberly joined forces with Ted and the practice changed its name to Johnson & Moore, P.A.  In 2008, J&M moved the main office location from Southport to its current location on Oak Island.  

From the beginning, J&M's primary focus has been on residential and commercial real estate transactions.  However, J&M does handle select other matters (esp. for real estate clients) such as estate planning, estate administration, traffic matters , landlord/tenant disputes and other minor civil matters.

  • After hours attorney access J&M attorneys will monitor phone calls and answer questions at night and on weekends.

  • Friendly, responsive attorneys and staff - Please feel free to call or email questions relating to your closing.  We will respond to your question ASAP but no later than 10am of the next business day.

  • Finely tuned systems and processes that contribute to smooth, timely closings with high success rate in meeting closing dates (esp. on cash transactions).

  • Last-minute closings – We can close some transactions in less than a week of receiving the contract.   

  • Early AM closings & recording – Upon request, and when circumstances allow (usually not with loan transactions) we will record a transaction before 9:30am.  Please call ahead of time to discuss your specific closing.  Otherwise, all closings for the day record together sometime between late morning and mid-afternoon depending on our schedule for the day.

  • On location closings - Our attorneys will travel to more convenient locations (such as buyer agent's office) for the client to sign documents when needed.

  • 10 Point Title Summary - UPON CLIENT REQUEST ONLY - Before the end of the Buyer's due diligence period, J&M will present the Buyer with a 10 Point Title Summary that will set forth a detailed summary of the findings of the title exam. 

  • Commitment to “Paperless” closings – We currently have the capability for paperless buyer-side cash transactions via DocuSign.  We are working towards paperless seller-side and loan transactions and will make those services available when possible.

  • Broker commission delivery  – Upon specific request, we will deliver commissions checks to local agencies or wire commissions to agency accounts.  Otherwise, commission checks are available at the J&M office for pickup (or mailing out) after notification that the closing is complete.

  • Text notification of recording – When specifically requested via text from the broker or client to the attorney on the day of closing, the attorney will send a closing-confirmation text to the broker and/or client as soon as the transaction is recorded.
