JOHNSON & MOORE, P.A. is a general practice law firm in SE North Carolina with a focus on real estate and estate planning law. We currently service clients in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties.
J&M was established in Southport, NC in 2003 as the Law Offices of Edward A. Johnson II. After Kimberly joined the firm in 2004, we changed the name to Johnson & Moore, P.A. In 2005, we moved our office to its current location in Oak Island, NC.
In 2020, we opened a second office location in Carolina Beach, NC where we serve clients in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties.
Our attorneys:
Edward A. Johnson II (“Ted”) started the practice and primarily focuses on real estate and estate planning matters. Before starting the practice, Ted worked for real estate and estate planning attorneys in SE North Carolina and for the Nevada State Legislature as a deputy legislative counsel.
Kimberly L. Moore joined the firm in 2004 and primarily focuses on real estate and estate planning matters. Before joining the firm, Kimberly worked on litigation matters with firms in Wilmington, NC, Reno, NV, and Atlanta, GA.

After hours attorney access - J&M attorneys will monitor phone calls and answer questions at night and on weekends.

Friendly, responsive attorneys and staff - Please feel free to call or email questions relating to your closing. We will respond to your question ASAP but no later than 10am of the next business day.

Finely tuned systems and team-oriented processes that contribute to smooth, timely closings with high success rate in meeting closing dates (esp. on cash transactions).

Last-minute closings – We can close some transactions in less than a week of receiving the contract.

Early AM closings & recording – Upon request, and when circumstances allow (usually not with loan transactions) we will record a transaction before 9:30am. Please call ahead of time to discuss your specific closing. Otherwise, all closings for the day record together sometime between late morning and mid-afternoon depending on our schedule for the day.

On location closings - Our attorneys will travel to more convenient locations (such as buyer agent's office) for the client to sign documents when needed.

10 Point Title Summary - AVAILABLE UPON CLIENT REQUEST ONLY AND FOR ADDITIONAL FEE- Before the end of the Buyer's due diligence period, J&M will present the Buyer with a 10 Point Title Summary that will set forth a detailed summary of the findings of the title exam.

Commitment to “Paperless” closings – We currently have the capability for paperless buyer-side cash transactions via AdobeSign. We are working towards paperless seller-side and loan transactions and will make those services available when possible.

Text notification of recording – When specifically requested via text from the broker or client to the attorney on the day of closing, the attorney will send a closing-confirmation text to the broker and/or client as soon as the transaction is recorded.
